Nearly Four Decades in Hillsborough Classrooms

Dr. Kenneth Gay is a lifelong Hillsborough County resident, educator, and community leader with more than four decades of service to local students and families. 

After a 39-year career with Hillsborough County Public Schools, Dr. Gay retired as an Assistant Principal, having served as a teacher, instructional leader, and mentor to educators across the district. His experience includes classroom teaching, alternative education programs, curriculum leadership, and supporting student success initiatives at the elementary level.

Proven Leadership in Education

Dr. Gay holds a Doctorate in Child and Youth Studies from Nova Southeastern University along with graduate degrees in Educational Leadership and Elementary Education. Throughout his career, he has been committed to strengthening schools, supporting teachers, and helping students reach their full potential.

Still Serving Students Today

Even in retirement, Dr. Gay remains active in the community. He currently teaches health and safety programs to students across Hillsborough County and mentors teachers entering the profession through alternative certification programs. He also volunteers as a historical docent at Cracker Country, helping preserve Florida’s pioneer heritage.

A Lifetime Invested in Our Community

Dr. Gay and his family have deep roots in Hillsborough County. His two children are graduates of Hillsborough County Public Schools, and his lifelong connection to the district continues to guide his commitment to strong schools, safe learning environments, and opportunities for every student to succeed.
